| ESCCO began in 1995 when community leaders Bill Phillips, Bernie Ille, John Belt, Harry Perry, Nancy Payne Ellis and Marilyn Meyers sought to establish an Organization to professionally help nonprofits solve business problems. Bill Phillips became president and executive director and the others were the founding members of the Board of Trustees. ESCCO became part of a national organization, the Executive Service Corps Affiliate Network., and each regional group chose its own name.
The year 2007 was a banner one for the Executive Service Corps of Central Oklahoma. We surpassed $100,000 in income and expenses for the first time since our founding in 1995, served the most number of clients ever and expanded our active volunteer consultant list to more than 60.
During the year, ESCCO:
- Delivered consulting services to 13 nonprofit organizations, providing a positive impact on their effectiveness. Our consultants provided in excess of 1,600 hours on these projects,
- Moved our offices from Union Station, our home for more than 10 years, to 600 N. Walker in the heart of the thriving Mid-Town Business District. The beautiful new 1,200-square-foot space provides offices for the staff, a large conference room, a separate meeting room for clients and consultants, reception area and private bath.
- Equipped the new office with the latest technology and decorated and furnished it in a comfortable and appealing fashion.
- Hired a director of consulting services, a new position. She has served as an ESCCO volunteer consultant and trustee for several years and has enthusiastically taken on this important task.
- Opened an endowment fund at the Oklahoma City Community Foundation. Thanks to a generous match from the Kirkpatrick Family Fund, we will have $20,000 in the account on March 31, 2008.
- Entered into a partnership with Love’s Entrepreneurship Center at Oklahoma City University
- Initiated a new coaching/mentoring service for our clients. We have trained some 10 volunteers and are currently working with our first two clients.
- Increased the number of training events and orientation meetings for our consultants.
- Presented the first Harry A. Perry II Award for Excellence in Nonprofit Management to Goodwill Industries Inc. The late Mr. Perry was a founding trustee and former chairman of ESCCO.
- Pull down "our projects" for information about our active or completed projects.
ESCCO truly came of age in 2007 as a major factor in the nonprofit world of Central Oklahoma, and we appreciate the support of all of you -- donors, consultants, clients and trustees -- in helping make it possible. |
